About The Golden West Pops
The Band
The Golden West Pops is a non-profit organization whose purpose is "the enlightenment of its members and our community through a program of music education." The 50+ members of the organization perform many concerts a year entertaining hundreds of people who may not have many opportunities to hear a live concert band. Venues include county fairs, street fairs, carnivals, and charity benefits, often without any recompense.
Golden West Pops is an adult community concert band. Most members are well beyond their school years. Almost every one of them began in a school music program. Participating in a school music program has been proven through research to increase attendance and academic performance in our schools. However, if there are no role models to motivate these students, no opportunities to expose them to live concert band performances, how will they ever choose to participate themselves?

Entertainment, Education, Engagement
The Golden West Pops has three main goals. To entertain our audiences, continue the education of future musicians, and engage with our community. We take pride in being able to inspire future generations to pursue their passion for music. That's why each summer we offer high school students the opportunity to join our band under the Golden Mentorship Program. Our summer session provides a creative environment where students have a place to continue their musical education.
Engagment
Our high schoolers aren't the only ones who benefit from the music we create. We also love partnering with groups like the Boy's and Girl's Clubs of America, the Girl Scouts, and Toys for Tots to ensure our communities youth have every opportunity to thrive.

Engagement means ensuring that all members of our community are accounted for. So the youth aren't the only ones who get to enjoy all our volunteers provide. At locations like Crescent Landing Memory Care, we make time to ensure those who can't travel are able to have music come to them.
